What’s Repression?

What’s Repression?

In our view repression doesn’t only mean physical violence people have to face e.g. from police at public demonstrations but more particular systematic structures which wield power to preserve the status quo.
Repression means systematic violence by which individuals as well as groups are affected. Repression to us represents e.g. deportation, imprisonment, housing shortage, patriarchy, standardization, poverty. This happens on an institutional, an economic as well as on a social level. It appears as psychic and physical violence.

We want to support activist groups and initiatives who fight against Repression and offer alternatives.

Nobody should endure Repression by him/herself, just because he/she’s primarily affected by it. It concerns all of us.
